Trash cans don't have to be ugly

I've refinished this wooden trash can, twice actually. I love the look of it over a plastic trash can and because of how heavy it is compared to plastic, it's hard to knock over. A great option for those with pets! It was handed down from our in-laws. It originally had a cute little gingerbread man on the front of it, but it just didn't fit with the rest of our kitchen furniture and color palette. My mother in-law said it was ok for me to refinish it, so I sanded it down, stained it gray and sealed it with a polyurethane. As we made updates to our kitchen space, again, it didn't fit the color palette, so I painted it and swapped the wooden pull with a copper one. With the second refinish, I also rebuilt the stained section of the lid with a wider plank to better hide the trash bag lip from peaking out. The paint and color I used is listed below along with a couple of before and after photos. (Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of it's original finish with the gingerbread man.)
